Virtual Tiles - Grades 6-12
Developed by: NECTAR Foundation
Virtual Tiles is a program designed to provide students with a concrete model for operations with integers and polynomials. Evaluating expressions, combining like terms, solving equations, applying the distributive property, multiplying polynomials, dividing polynomials, and factoring, all have concrete models. This program will help your students to grasp abstract concepts and visualize operations. Virtual Tiles allows students to construct their own meanings for many complicated concepts. Students can factor expressions with Virtual Tiles that very few could do using any other techniques.
Colorful and animated, these tiles can be dragged, flipped, and manipulated on screen in one of three environments: Addition Environment; Multiplication Environment; Equations Environment. This program provides all of the benefits of working with algebra tiles or blocks with many added advantages.
